Class of 1948 Donates a Bust of Phillis Wheatley

Class of 1948 President Oscar Moore along with members of the Class of '48 will donate a bronze bust of Phillis Wheatley, the poet, to the school on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 9:00 a.m. during the school's Fall Community Summit.

Parent Room

Parents come and have "Coffee with the Principal" in the newly transformed parent room. The next "Coffee with the Principal" session will take place on Thursday, November 19, 9:00 a.m.

HISD September Employee of the Month

Officer Warren Whiting is HISD's Employee of the Month of September 2009. Officer Whiting is the lead officer at Phillis Wheatley High School. He is dedicated and passionate about maintaining student and staff safety.

Purple Explosion Band

Are you ready for this? The Wheatley High School Purple Explosion Marching Band is making its mark. They have participated in the Mardi Gras Parade in Galveston. They also have played music for various events sponsored by local politicians and schools. We are looking forward to the band turning up the tunes this coming school year.

Girls Day

Annually, Wheatley High School hosts a Girls Day event to share pertinent information relating to becoming a responsible young lady in society. The female students receive tips on etiquette, teen pregnancy prevention, and career opportunities.
