Curriculum and Instruction

HISD’s curriculum focuses on TEKS Objectives. The Houston Independent School District has a wealth of resources available to assist students and parents in effectively planning and teaching. Teachers use the district’s Horizontal Alignment Planning Guides (HAPG) and Vertical Alignment Matrix (VAM) to assist with instructional strategies and overall classroom presentations.
Teachers consistently review student test data from benchmark assessments, TAKS, and quizzes in order to determine academic deficits and strengths.
