Middle College for Technology Careers Magnet Program is for high school students who are interested in developing technical skills that will allow them to enter productive careers in technology-related fields. MCTC magnet students are required to take a sequence of courses that lead to various technology certifications.
MCTC magnet program offers the following certifications:

  • A+ Computer Maintenance Certification
  • Cisco Networking Certification
  • MOUS Certification

MCTC magnet students also participate in summer internships and technology-related co-operative student work programs during the student’s senior year in school.
The MCTC magnet program in partnership with Houston Community College – Northeast Campus offers the following technology dual (college) credit courses:

  • Computer Aided Drafting & Design
  • Computer Maintenance
  • Business Computer Information Systems II
  • Process Implementation I
  • Introduction to Process Technology


In order to apply, incoming ninth grade students will need the following documents:
Copy of Standardized Test Scores – (TAKS and Stanford)
Copy of 7th Grade Report Card
Copy of Current 8th Grade Report Card
Copy of Immunization Record

Incoming 10th Graders will need the following to apply:
Copy of Recent Report Card
Unofficial Copy of Transcript
Copy of Standardized Test Scores

Entrance Criteria is based on the overall performance of the student. Students are scored based on their academic performance - TAKS scores / Stanford scores & grades, attendance rate and conduct.
